<div itemprop="description">IDE Arlene Marguerite (nee Miles) - following a severe fall at her Scarborough home on November 18th 2014, Arlene Marguerite Ide suffered a heart attack on November 27th, while recovering at the Dunfield Retirement Home in Cambridge, Ontario. She passed away the following day at St. Mary`s Hospital in Kitchener Ontario. Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Ranald Ide, in 1996. Born in Toronto on January 18th, 1932, Arlene Miles attended local elementary and high schools before beginning her civil service careers at Queens Park. Her quick intelligence and meticulous attention to detail were soon noticed at the Department of Education, where she rose to coordinate the province-wide activities of the Department`s district school inspectors. She married educator and broadcaster Ran Ide on April 14th, 1967, taking on a household that included his mother and two teenage sons. This she did with both sensitivity and a unique sense of humour that ranged from the witty bon mot to down and out slapstick. More than a love match `made in Heaven`, the marriage was a true partnership. Arlene`s insatiable curiosity and enthusiasm for learning stimulated her husband`s `restless` intelligence. She encouraged him to take on increasingly challenging projects, which included heading up the fledgling organization now known as TV Ontario. In 1979, Ran and Arlene established T.R. Ide Consultants Inc. Arlene loved people. More interested in their character than how they confined themselves to convention, her friends were from all walks of life. No push over, she seldom held her punches. Praise from her more than made your day. Family meant the world to Arlene, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves her sister Muriel McFarland and her family, her step-sons Richard, John, and Douglas, and their families. `Mum&quot; was a champion of the arts and sciences; should you wish to make a donation in her memory, please choose a charity of your choice. Family will receive friends at Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West. Oakville on Wednesday December 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Arlene`s life will take place at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Thunder Bay at a later date.</div>
