Betty Yvette Yeo: Born 12 November 1925 in Sydney, Australia; passed away 12 April 2014 at Wyndham Manor, Oakville, Ontario. She will be missed by Stan, her loving partner of 67 years; her children, Gary (Kate Grapes), Roger (Kathy Delaporte), Erik (Alexandra Koerner) and Jeanette (Richard Jeffrey); grandchildren: Kevin (Jessica Payne), Rachelle, David, Jon, Gordon, Kristin, Lara, Alex, Robin, Colin, Julian and Sara; great-grandchildren, Simon and Maple; sister-in-law Jean Lower, brother-in-law Paul Willis, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Australia, Canada and USA. Betty was the last survivor of the five daughters of Dr. Frederick Lynch and Thelma Shaw: Rae, Una (Charles Banath), Winsome (Keith Vaskess) and Andrea (Paul Willis).

Betty grew up in Ballina and Sydney, NSW, where she graduated from Ascham School. In 1945, while ice-skating at the Sydney Glacarium, she met Stan, a young Canadian merchant sailor. Two years later, she came to Canada and they were married in Ottawa on 26 December 1947. Betty liked flowers and birds. She would have been a kingfisher! Her life was filled with adventures, traveling, walking, snowshoeing and camping. Her family treasures her knitted mitts, hats and sweaters, and beautiful baby quilts. For many years, Betty and Stan were Scottish country dancers. They passed on a love of sailing to their children, racing on Lake Ontario and later cruising on Georgian Bay. They took up scuba diving in the 1970s and, until very recently, continued to dive and travel the world.

Betty’s family will gather to celebrate her life later in the year, when the Golden Wattle blooms.
