Georges El Khawaja
February 10, 1933 - October 24, 2015
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Georges El Khawaja at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, at the age of 82 years on Saturday, October 24, 2015.
A devoted husband and partner, Georges will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Zahwe (Awad). Also left to mourn the loss of an exceptionally loving father are his three sons; Paul (Darla) Oakville, Elie (Najah) Greenville, South Carolina and Pierre (Wafa) Zgharta, Lebanon. Forever a very special "Dodo" to 7 grandchildren; Georges, Michelle, Paul, Mireille, Rita, Matteo and Zoe, as well as 2 great grandchildren; Anthony and Marissa.
Georges immigrated to Canada from Zgharta, Lebanon with his family in 1985 and soon became one of Canada's proudest citizens. He was a strong supporter of his new country's ideals and standard of living. For the past 15yrs, Georges and Zahwe resided in Oakville to be close to their youngest son, Paul and wife Darla and their children Matteo and Zoe. The gift of unforgettable family memories occurred during these times; especially when the whole family could be together.
Georges loved to laugh, eat, tell stories, take photographs and travel. Because of his magnetic personality he made many friends around the world. Once a prominent and successful businessman, he found great joy in the simple freedoms such as a cup of coffee with his dear wife Zahwe, and the beauty and blessing of his(their) daily walks until his illness would allow this no more. His most treasured gift and greatest blessing however was always his Family for whom he could not give enough of his love and time. A most kind and admirable man whom his grandchildren adored and his sons and daughter-in-laws loved dearly. Even extended families, Georges would repeatedly say "You Family to Me and Zahwe". His caregivers too, would soon discover the love and appreciation of this humble man.
The Family wishes to convey very special thanks to Dr. Kealey, Dr. Sheth, Dr. Rogers, Dr. Brokenshire, Yolanda from Palliative Care and ALL of the amazing nursing staff in Emergency, ICU, 4 East and 4 West at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. We would also like to thank Kim and Gus from Acclaim Health for taking exceptional care of him over the past 2 years.
Fondly remembered. Forever loved.
