Our dear daughter, Gillian Knight, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in Oakville on Thursday, October 9th. Gillian was born in Halifax, NS, in 1972, but spent most of her life in Oakville. She was recognized by and known to a lot of people in the community. Many she had met while shopping, attending church and participating in social groups. Although mentally challenged, she had a real interest in people and had an unusual memory that allowed her to remember what someone had told her about themselves and their family members, even long after being told. She would recall at later encounters what someone had told her and was always interested to learn news from them. She particularly loved family gatherings where she could find out what had happened in the lives of relatives. She was always interested and joyful to listen to family members tell of developments in their lives. Gillian had a close relationship with Ross Westaway for several years, which time was in many respects the highlight of her life. She really missed Ross when he passed away about seven years ago.
Gillian will be greatly missed by her mother and father, Judy and Henry Knight (of Cobourg, Ontario), and by her sister, Nancy Fairweather (married to Jim), and her brothers, Andrew, Peter (married to Julie) and James Knight. Gillian was an aunt to Hailey and Jak Knight, and to Raine, Kat (Sharp) and James Fairweather, and to the late Lisa Knight. She was within the family a special member who was supported and enjoyed by all of us. She will be really missed by all.
Donations can be made to Community Living, Oakville, to support this hard-working and under-funded service organization.

Funeral details to be determined shortly.
