Osler, Heather Snowdon (nee Lewis)
It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Heather Osler on Thursday October 29th in Oakville after a brief but courageous bout with cancer.
She will be dearly missed by her children: Geoff (Heather), Ginny, and Alison (Brian); grandchildren, Kate, Tommy, Emily, Wells, Ben, Darragh, Cameron, Jaitham, Cyra, Sarah, Katelyn, and John; and by her loving husband of 30 years, Derek and his children, Jane, Graeme, and Brit.

Born in 1939 in Montreal, Heather started her career as a registered nurse (Kingston General Hospital School of Nursing, ’61). From her career in nursing she was drawn to a career in the management and delivery of residential care services for people with disabilities, as the founding chair of Halton Cheshire Homes. Over time, Heather’s career evolved into the management of professional associations; most recently as CEO for 23 years with the Canadian Association of Management Consultants where she was widely acknowledged as an innovator, who elevated and brought credibility to the profession, in Canada, and internationally through setting up consulting associations in the Caribbean and Kazakhstan, and an educational program for consulting in India.

Engaged in many activities, the competitive side of Heather’s nature was indulged by her interest in bridge, golf, and fishing around the world. As successful as Heather was in all her endeavours, the most compelling thing we loved, admired and will miss most about Mum, is that she was loving to her very core, with her children, step children, friends and colleagues, all of whom felt the comfort and blessing of her gifts as a listener, friend, and advisor. Heather’s outgoing nature charmed and captivated all who knew her.

Faith was an important part of Heather’s life, and in latter years she welcomed the opportunity to participate in even more meaningful ways through her activities with St. Simon’s. Her deep faith helped to provide peace during her final days, and her family drew strength from her serenity.

Visitation will be held this Sunday November 1st from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Rd. W. Oakville. The Memorial service will be held Monday November 2nd at 2:00 pm at St. Simon’s Anglican Church, 1450 Litchfield Rd, Oakville; reception to follow in MacKay Hall.

At the family’s request, please do not send flowers; if desired, donations can be made in Heather’s memory to The St. Simons Sustainability Fund, or to Ian Anderson House whose excellent care Heather loved in her final days.
