Jose Sanchez Sr. - On August 6, 2016, Jose passed away peacefully after a 35 year struggle with early onset Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his mother Nubia, loving wife Graciela of 51 years, his sons Jose (Susan) and Felipe (Jane), grandchildren Lily, Alex and Jennilee and his brothers, sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Jose was born in Colombia where he was a much loved high school teacher despite teaching mathematics and physics. In 1974, he moved his family to Toronto and later settled in Mississauga and Oakville.

Jose was passionate about politics, poetry and was an avid reader, chess player and tinkerer. He owned one of the first personal computers available and later built and sold computers to his friends and customers. On a whim he developed an algorithm to predict winning lottery numbers which netted him about $400 and no early retirement. He was never idle and always had an opinion or an idea which he loved to share with his family and friends. We will miss him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 11 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at the Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West in Oakville. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to Parkinson Canada.
