Kathleen Julia Wills (nee Trainor)
Departed January 16, 2015 in her 92nd year. Born in Philadelphia, PA, USA in 1923, Kay attended the University of Pennsylvania before joining the U.S. State Department. During a posting to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she met and married the love of her life, Michael, and they started their family of five. Their journey together would take them to three continents before finally settling in Canada, though they would never forget the magic of Brazil, where they returned to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
Kay was first and foremost a proud, loving, and empathic mum and grandmother. A joyous person and eternal optimist, she sought the best in people and situations. A cosmopolitan, she had style and class, like Jackie Kennedy, whom she so admired. Kay never lost her sense of adventure, and was always eager to expand her knowledge and experience, whether taking voice lessons from an opera diva or learning Russian. As an active community volunteer, she worked for Distress Line and in school libraries, helped organize a food co-operative, co-founded the Whiteoaks tennis club, and sat on the Mississauga Parks and Recreation board. A voracious reader who enjoyed good literature, was fascinated by the lives of interesting people, and actively followed politics, she was a fount of knowledge.
She is lovingly remembered by her children John (Gabriele), Susan (Lee), David (Julie), Peter (Vally), Rob (Anne), and grandchildren Melanie, Michael, Jamie, Andy, Kristy, Stephanie, Melissa, and Nicolas, and sister Patricia.
Friends are invited to help celebrate her life,
Sunday January 25, 2015, 4-6 pm
Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West Oakville, www.oakviewfuneral.ca .
In lieu of flowers donations would be welcomed to the Salvation Army or your preferred charity.
