Mitchell, Ronald-passed away peacefully at Ian Anderson House on Friday July 1st at 81 years young with his “Minnie” Patricia by his side. Ronald will be sadly missed by his wife of over 54 years Patricia and his children John (Michelle), Lisa (Shane), Vanessa (Jose) and niece Tracy. He was also the very proud grandfather "Grumps" of Braden and Evelyn. Ronald was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest with extended trips to Spain, good food and wine, watching soccer and driving his convertible on country roads.
Before he met Patricia, Ron started his Engineering career as an apprentice at Smiths clocks in England. He met Patricia in 1958 at his next job at DeHavilland’s. They then married in 1961 and emigrated to Ottawa, Canada 3 weeks later, where he worked for the National Research Council. They moved to Toronto in 1965 and Ron worked for Garretts, where he met some of his long-time friends. 20 years later, Ron went to night school and got his Masters of Education from OISE, then started working at George Brown College and proved to be a gifted professor. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Ian Anderson House-truly a sanctuary for those in need. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 9th from 5pm until 7pm at OAKVIEW FUNERAL HOME 56 Lakeshore Rd.W. Oakville(1 block east of Kerr St). As a tribute to the vibrant man that Ronald was please wear colours other than black if you are able(Ronald’s favourite colour was yellow). In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ronald to Ian Anderson House would be greatly appreciated.
